MARCH Town captain Luke Pepper is meeting with former boss Brett Whaley this week about a possible move to UCL side Yaxley.

Pepper commented: “I am meeting with Brett but I will not be making any decision about next season until I see what is happening at March.”

The 27-year-old has been at March since leaving school apart from one season with Wisbech Town.

Whaley, now in charge at Yaxley, is also expected to move for March goalkeeper Aaron Butcher, who was expected to leave March this summer anyway, along with Gavin Cooke and Kyle Nolan who were looking to play in the Peterborough League next season. The Hares’ board are planning to have interviews next week for the vacant manager’s job at the GER.

They are meeting tonight and have already received seven inquiries for the post but are not identifying any candidates at present.

Chairman Phil White said: “Brett did a fantastic job for the club and we are very sorry to see him leave.

“It is very heartening that we have had so much interest in the manager’s job already.

“ We want to try and appoint someone within the next two weeks so we can try and keep as many of last season’s squad as possible together.”
