Wisbech Town boss Steve Appleby has already lined up a replacement for striker Andy Furnell, who is the new Soham Town manager, with Liam Nimmo returning to the club this summer.

Appleby played alongside Nimmo for Wisbech for two seasons under then-boss Dick Creasey and is a big admirer.

He said: “He will bring a bit of everything to the team. He works hard, can hold the ball up and scores goals. If we had a 20-25 goalscorer last season we would have finished a lot higher.

“Liam had a very good partnership with Liam Harrold when he was here before and I am hoping he can do the same with Ash Stevens and Darren Jimson this time.”

Since leaving Wisbech, Nimmo has had spells with Holbeach and Boston Town.

Appleby has also spoken to a couple of midfield players who have agreed to come and train with the club when they start again in early July.
