Howard heads Lilies to vital win

In the Cambs League Premier Division Chatteris Town bagged their second win in a row in a relegation six-pointer 1-0 over third from bottom visitors Ely City Res.

Simon Howard headed the winner from a corner with ten minutes remaining. Near the end Max Flintoff pulled off a brilliant one-handed save and an Ely player received two yellow cards for fouls on Jack Saunders.

Boss Steve Bright said: “It was tight for long periods but the final ball wasn’t there. We worked very hard. That puts us level on points with Ely, I think.

“If we keep injury-free, hopefully things will start to improve.”
