In the Cambs League Premier Division Chatteris Town bagged their second win in a row in a relegation six-pointer 1-0 over third from bottom visitors Ely City Res.
Simon Howard headed the winner from a corner with ten minutes remaining. Near the end Max Flintoff pulled off a brilliant one-handed save and an Ely player received two yellow cards for fouls on Jack Saunders.
Boss Steve Bright said: “It was tight for long periods but the final ball wasn’t there. We worked very hard. That puts us level on points with Ely, I think.
“If we keep injury-free, hopefully things will start to improve.”
Wisbech St Mary lost 4-1 at West Wratting as Stuart Ablett replied midway through the second half.
Manager Arran Duke said: “We were very disappointing and did not perform in a game that was really there for the taking. I have to accept responsibility for making too many changes.”
Upwell regained Division 5D fifth place from Coldham this week with a 4-1 victory away. Upwell goals: Scott Beetlestone, 2, Jonny Allen and a Luke Gale penalty.
Upwell manager, Karl Schultz, said: “We beat them fair and square.”
In 3B, a depleted Estover Park lost 4-1 to top of the table WSM A. Wayne Whittaker scored a fine consolation header.
