MIDFIELDER Paul Jones quit Wisbech Town before Tuesday night’s win at Haverhill.

The 29-year-old has recently lost his place in the centre of midfield to Steven Reid and Lewis Thompson after starting the season as a first choice.

Appleby signed Jones last September from Newmarket and the player had previously had spells with Sudbury and Soham Town.

Appleby said: “He wants regular football and he has left the club on good terms. It is very difficult to keep everyone happy when you are winning and it is a hard part of management.

“We have Simon Ashton and Nick Davey out on loan so if we pick up injuries we can recall them. I will see how things go over the next two or three weeks and see if we need to bring someone else into the club.”
