FORMER Wisbech Town chairman Paul Brenchley is keen to resurrect the Wisbech Sunday League which folded two years ago.
The league ceased when there were just not enough clubs to function but Brenchley feels there are more than enough footballers in the Wisbech area to have their own league on Sundays again.
At the moment local clubs like Englands Hope, March Saracens, Crown Outwell and White Bell play in the King’s Lynn League and Brenchley is hoping they will switch back to a Wisbech League.
Brenchley, who was also manager of Outwell Swifts for a number of seasons until this year, said: “It would be good to have the Wisbech Sunday League back and the Cambs FA have indicated they are also keen too.
“We would only need at least eight clubs to start with and I am sure the number would grow. There are under 18 teams locally who have no league to play once the players reach 18 and they could keep the same team and join.
“Time is of the essence and clubs will have to make a decision very quickly if we are to start next season and I really need to know by April 15th if there is the interest.”
