Lilies fight back for draw

Chatteris Town manager Steve Bright said his side’s Cambs League Premier Division performance in drawing 3-3 at third place Fulbourn Institute was “unrecognisable” compared to the previous week’s loss.

He said: “It was a fine performance, I couldn’t fault them. The application was great and we could have nicked it at the end.”

The Lilies had to come back from 1-0 and 3-1 down. Jack Saunders levelled after cutting in from the left and scoring from his favoured right boot.

Ben Matthews, with a cracking shot into the top corner, and Aidan Hollis netted the other goals. Chatteris are now level with Eaton Socon at the basement.

Wisbech St Mary lost 5-2 at leaders Great Shelford.

Manager Arran Duke said: “It was a very good performance and the result doesn’t reflect it. Mark Newton, Jordan Goult and Tim Magnus were excellent.”

Chris MacAree and Newton got the goals in reply.

In Senior A, Wimblington lost 4-0 at bottom placed Needingworth United. The Senior B Outwell Swifts v Longstanton fixture was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Doddington United are third in Division 1B after a 4-1 triumph over Buckden. Goals came from Lee Barnett, James Harness 2 and substitute Asa Revell.

In the Division 5D derby, Doddington A’s Seve Revell saw red, but Chris Knott ensured the visitors got a point at Wimblington A in a 1-1 stalemate.
