The Cambs League Division 2B game between Tydd United and Wisbech St Mary Res was postponed on Saturday due to the death of a Tydd player.
Competitions secretary Phil Mitcham of Cambridgeshire FA said after the game at Tydd St Giles Recreation Ground was called off: “A Tydd player was sadly found dead on Friday, that’s why the game was postponed.
“It’s very sad. Obviously the league are very sorry to hear of such a tragic thing to happen to a young man.
“Our thoughts are with the family at this moment.”
Chatteris Town FC drew 1-1 away to Brampton in the Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.
Alex Saunders put the Lilies ahead in the first half.
Boss Steve Bright said: “The referee gave a dubious penalty which Max Flintoff, who saved a penalty last week, got a hand to it but couldn’t quite keep it out.
“A draw was a fair result as both teams battled hard. We seem to play better against the better sides.”
Chatteris host Wisbech St Mary in a derby next weekend.
A serious head injury to Estover Park keeper, Marcus Larham, impacted on the 3B 5-1 loss to Elsworth.
Tommy Neal pulled a goal back and John Trower also went close with a header. Larham left in an ambulance and had mild concussion.
Upwell recorded a 3-2 5D win away to Littleport A, ensuring they kept a 100 per cent record against the opposition.
Upwell goals: Jonny Allen and winger Matt Thomas two, including a 30 yard screamer.
The second half was full of ill-discipline and the referee booked a Littleport midfielder three times.
