Lincoln Hope 3,
Gorefield Athletic 2

This Lincoln Rust Memorial match raised an outstanding £2158.50 for SANDS (Stillborn and Neonatal Deaths Society) on Friday night.

The match saw Lincoln Hope go into a 1-0 lead through Stuart Ablett heading home. Gorefield pressed and lacked in the final third of the pitch.

A quick second half goal from captain Lyndon Woods for Lincoln Hope put them 2-0 up but then the tide turned as Ryan Alexander came on for Gorefield, caused problems and set up Wayne Morton to make it 2-1. Dean Jimson then found Alexander, making it 2-2.

But with the match heading to penalties, Gorefield keeper Mikey Watts threw the ball to Aaron McKenna who made no mistake in the last minute.

It was an even match played in great spirit. Thanks to referee Sid Feltell, Wisbech Town FC for the pitch and to all that donated prizes.
