Wisbech Town have signed Kettering, ex-Boston, Fakenham and Peterborough Northern Star forward James Tricks on loan.

Boss Steve Appleby said about the forward (pictured), who has been at Calor League Division One Central Kettering this summer: “I spoke to Dean Thomas (Kettering boss) about James, and he wasn’t in the squad.

“I spoke to James in the summer but Kettering came in. They’re from a higher level and even I told him to go for it.

“He’s got a bit of everything. He’s quite strong, he can hold people off and get involved.”

James is on a dual contract and will be playing for both Kettering and Wisbech Town.

Callum Reed and Anthony Reeve are due to return for tonight’s game with Deeping Rangers. Next Saturday Wisbech are away at AFC Kempston Rovers.

Appleby added: “We need to bounce back quickly as we can. A game a few days after Saturday is just the tonic.”

Appleby put a statement on the club website to apologise to the fans for Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Huntington Town.

It read: “On behalf of myself, Dearo, Spaff Snr and the players, I’d like to apologise to the Board of Directors and the supporters for this afternoon’s abject performance and result against Huntingdon Town.

“It was totally out of character for us and was, I’m pretty sure, the worst performance since I became manager. The buck stops with me and I can assure you all that I will not allow a repeat of what happened today. Bring on Deeping Rangers on Tuesday night!”
