Perfect ten for Upwell

Upwell won big for the second week running, this time putting 10 past Doddington A without reply in Cambs League 5D.

Upwell were six goals up by half-time through Gary Green (2), Luke Gale, Mario Santos, Martin Chapman and Tyron Elms. In the second half Green (hat-trick), Santos, Elms and veteran striker Andy McClagish were on target.

Midfield maestro Jonny Allen will miss the remainder of the season with ankle ligament damage.

Benwick Res put a large dent into WSM C’s promotion hopes with a 1-1 draw at home. Charlie Cross was fouled in the penalty area and skipper Johnny calmly slotted the penalty home. In the second half, WSM A got an early equaliser but Benwick went close through Ryan Smith, Harry Stevens and Jacob Young.
