Wisbech Town joint boss Paul Cousins says Sam Murphy will be the last of his and Scott Johnson’s signings for the time being.
Of central midfielder Murphy, who signed on Friday, Cousins said: “He contacted me and wanted to come back. He can play across the midfield. That’s it for the time being.”
Cousins said: “We’ve got to get our confidence back especially on Saturday.
“It’s just frustrating at the moment with the injuries we have.
“We will use the cup game to use bench players and it’s a game where we can get our system right and apply things we can take into the league.”
Matt Lunn is away on holiday and is not available for midweek games so the forward misses this week’s home double helping of Cambridge Uni Press (Cambs Invitation Cup last night) and AFC Kempston Rovers next Saturday in the UCL Premier Division.
Adam Millson on Wednesday had the “pot” removed from his ankle and will be another couple of weeks away from fitness.
The fitness of skipper Jon Fairweather was assessed on Tuesday.
Anthony Reeve should be back for the weekend after returning from holiday.
Cousins said: “If you lose a couple of players like a centre-half you’re shifting around more players than you’ve lost.”
Jack Friend has been taken on trial by League One Peterborough United’s Academy side and hopes to secure a two-year scholarship at London Road.
He played against Southend for 25 minutes.
The 16-year-old said: “I am halfway through my trial and haven’t been told anything yet. Hopefully I shall be told more by next weekend.
“At this moment in time I am really enjoying myself and it is a great experience.”
