Steve sparks Sports’ revival

Leverington Sports made it three successive Peterborough Premier Division wins with a 1-0 success against Whittlesey Blue Star.

Steve Thompson, whose return has sparked the revival, scored the winning goal with a header from a long throw by Mark Jimson 20 minutes from the end.

Stu Webb said: “We played very well in the second half and deserved the win although it was very difficult on the small school pitch.”

Parson Drove also pulled off a good result on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against second placed Moulton Harrox.

The visitors took the lead after five minutes benefitting from a defensive mistake, but James McManus equalised on 30 minutes with a well struck free kick from 22 yards out.

Drove boss Alan Russell said: “It was a good game and a fair result.”
