Stevens back for Fenmen

WISBECH Town have signed former striker Ash Stevens on loan from Spalding and he will line up against Brantham tomorrow in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division game.

Manager Steve Appleby was already considering bringing in a striker with Chris Bacon out injured but was then forced to move quickly when Dubi Ogbonna was ruled out with an ankle injury also yesterday.

Stevens signed for Wisbech before the start of the 2010-11 season and scored 13 goals in that season before leaving again the following summer.

He scored 25 goals for Holbeach last season, but was released by the club in March and has since joined Spalding. He played in their 2-1 defeat by Blaby & Whetstone in the FA Cup in early August so will not be able to play for Wisbech against Kettering next week.

Appleby said: “With Dubi and Chris both out I needed a striker for this weekend and have taken Ash Stevens back on loan on a week to week basis.”
