Hares boss Paul Crosbie hopes two goals for Paul Richardson will help the striker for the rest of the campaign after March ended a run of four losses in Thurlow Nunn Division One on Saturday.

Richardson scored the first and third goals, while being bundled over in the box to earn a penalty for the second which Lewis Thompson converted.

Crosbie commented: “Paul had put a lot of pressure on himself.

“He was panicking, but when he scored he ran over 40 yards to hug me. He looked a different player afterwards and his touch was back.

“It was a huge weight off his shoulders.”

Richardson struck just before half-time with a sweet volley. Needham levelled with a penalty which Crosbie said was “dubious” but March’s spot-kick in reply and a Richardson shot into the bottom corner after good work by Sam Darlow and Aaron McKenna sealed the points for the hosts.

Crosbie has to assess the fitness of Gary White, who sustained a back injury while at work, before Saturday’s game at Whitton Utd.

March: Collett, Ogden, Lemmon, Mattless, Cook, Gibbons, Jackson, Thompson, Darlow, Richardson, Blanchflower. Subs: Hipwell, S. White, McKenna.
