WISBECH Town have already lined up another striker to replace Scott Ginty who switched to Bishops Stortford earlier this month.
The forward, who played at a step four club last season, has already agreed to come to the first training session at Fenland Stadium next Tuesday and assistant manager Chris Dear is optimistic he will join the club.
Dear said: “He is a player I know and I am sure he would be a good addition to the club. He played for a step four club last season and a step three club have been interested in signing him as well.”
Wisbech also want to sign another midfield player and Dear added: “I have been speaking to the player this week and he is happy with the terms we can offer and Steve Appleby will be speaking to him on his return later this week.
“With Sam Murphy departing we are a bit short in the centre of midfield and we could also do with another striker now that Scott Ginty is not coming.
“It just never stops at this stage but if we can sign both these players they will be great additions to the squad and probably complete our signings before the season starts.”
The Thurlow Nunn League held their annual meeting at the weekend and the signing forms will be available for Appleby when he returns from holiday.
Wisbech have been drawn at home to March Town in the preliminary round of the Red Insure (League) Cup. The last time the two sides clashed in this competition March were 3-1 winners at the GER in 2008.
Since then the two sides met in the FA Cup last season when over 1,600 fans watched the two games with the Fenmen winning the replay at the Fenland Stadium.
Pre-season training starts at the Fenland Stadium next Tuesday night.
