Wisbech St Mary won at Waterbeach 3-1 in the Cambs League Premier Division thanks to three first half goals: a Stuart Brown header, the impressive Jack Mockford, and Ricky Bowden after good work from Robbie Harris and Aaron McKenna.
Saints manager Arran Duke said: “The second half was more even with the back four playing very well and Jordan Goult put in a man of the match display.”
Chatteris Town boss Steve Bright said it was two points dropped in the 1-1 stalemate with Lakenheath.
After a dominant Lilies first half, he added: “We went into our shell in a very poor second half. We gave away silly free-kicks. They got a penalty from which Max Flintoff made a great save.”
A good move involving Jamie Taylor had set up Alex Ashley to fire into the top corner, but Lakenheath levelled 10 minutes from time.
Upwell’s promotion chances in 5D took a knock in a 3-2 loss against a determined Manea side.
A fantastic individual goal from Luke Gale came before Manea knocked three goals past blameless stand-in goalkeeper, Sam Thorpe. Upwell set up a tense finish through James Rose’s half volley.
Gorefield Athletic won 2-0 at Coldham despite captain Aaron Wright being sent off for foul language.
MoM Tim Housden scored his first goal for the club since transferring from Upwell and set up Kev Smith to seal the win. New signing Scott Benton made his debut in goal.
