THREE local sides are through to the North Cambs Junior Cup semi-finals.
Leverington Reserves will host Manea, while Benwick travel to Whittlesey Blue Star, with the matches to be played on Saturday, February 19.
In Saturday’s quarter-finals, Leverington Reserves won 3-0 away to Guyhirn thanks to goals from Dale Palmer, Jordan Allen and Wayne Garner.
Manea were 2-1 winners away to March Rangers and manager Dan Bishop thought his side had deserved the victory: “There were not too many chances, but I thought we dominated for good periods.”
David Anguila put Manea ahead after a spell of pressure, collecting a cross from the left before slipping his marker and showing good composure to side-foot his shot into the net.
Early in the second half it was all square as Ash Anderson scored from close range, but Manea soon regained the lead from a penalty. Kris Judge was brought down in the box and picked himself up to score from the spot.
Doddington’s run in the competition came to an end with a 2-1 defeat away to Whittlesey Blue Star; Luke Quince and Stefan Green scored for the home side while Doddington had an own goal in reply. Benwick were 3-2 winners at Thorney.
