Tydd St Mary 2
Thorpe Wood Rgs 1
Tydd extended their winning streak to four games when they beat leaders Wood on Saturday.
Darren Rawthorn cleared the ball and set Tim Lowe on the counter attack. Lowe put in a great cross that Scott Pemberton volleyed into the top corner of the net after just nine minutes.
On 34 minutes Saints made it 2-0 when a Stu Easey corner was headed onto the bar by Luke Tordoff who then turned his own rebound into the net.
On 65 minutes, Rangers’ no. 9 Cardin Pierre-Liverpool knocked the ball out of keeper David Cooper’s path with his hand and then slotted the ball home. The referee allowed the goal, claiming he had not seen the incident. This galvanised Tydd, with Man of the Match Nick Reims captaining his side admirably, especially as Lowe was given his second yellow card on 73 minutes.
Saints move up to third on goal difference.
Manager Carl Wilson said: “That has to be our best performance of the season so far.”
Tydd host Boston Prem side Billinghay Athletic on Saturday in the 2nd Round of the Lincolnshire County Cup, 2.15pm.

Leverington Res 1
Upwell made it through to the quarter finals for the second consecutive year after beating higher league opponents.
Inside the first 15 minutes a combination of good/fortunate saves and poor finishing looked like it might cost the hosts.
In-form Callum Summers unleashed an unstoppable volley from 35 yards to break the deadlock, but Leverington somehow found an equaliser with the last kick of the half.
The second half saw an improved performance from the hosts and they scored via Jake Gent and a Jonny Allen header.
Upwell manager Karl Schultz said: “It’s always pleasing to knock higher league opposition out.
“I was delighted to give two 16-year-olds, Lucas Ablett and Callum Elsey, their debuts as well.
“Those two, as well as Jake Gent, all stepped up from the A team and gave everyone a glimpse of the future of Upwell.”
