TYDD United are through to the quarter finals of the John Ablett Cup after a 3-1 win over 3A outfit Eaton Socon A.
Eaton looked strong in the first half and went a goal up after 20 minutes and continued to be a threat in a half where Tydd were poor, but finally they came into the game after 35 minutes and started to create chances.
In the second half Tydd came out flying and after 10 minutes of the restart had levelled the game when Dan Loates whipped a superb ball in from the left wing straight across the face of goal and when the Eaton defence couldn’t clear Mark Barker slotted home the equaliser.
Loates continued to cause problems for Eaton and his long free kick into the box was met by the keeper but his own defender clattered into him and James Lawes stabbed in the loose ball.
Then with 10 minutes left Loates was once more the provider when his perfect corner was met by Chris Young with a bullet header to put Tydd in total control.
Eaton continued to press but they couldn’t break through the resiliant defence and Tydd saw the game out to progress to the next round.
