Wisbech Town FC will travel to Norwich United in the FA Cup first qualifying round following their home victory at the weekend.
The Fenmen won 2-1 in the preliminary round against Thurlow Nunn Premier side Kirkley & Pakefield in their second qualifying match of the world’s most famous cup competition on Saturday at the Fenland Stadium (see page 79).
Norwich United won 3-0 at Thetford Town on Friday night and as a result will host Wisbech on Saturday, September 13.
The Supporters Club will lay on a coach. A charge of £10 would cover the cost of a seat on the bus. The winners scoop £3,000, while for winning the Kirkley tie the Fenmen earned themselves £1,925.
Manager Dick Creasey said: “We’ll turn our attention to that once we get this Saturday out of the way.”
On Saturday in the ChromaSport & Trophies UCL Premier Division, Wisbech travel to Huntingdon Town.
They have injury doubts over defenders Neal Spafford and Stacy Cartwright.
The duo were due to be assessed by physio Shane Spafford at last night’s home game with Sleaford before a decision will be made on their readiness for that game and for next weekend’s trip.
Danny Beaumont’s medial ligament knee injury is still sore and the forward is doubtful. Paul Cousins returns from suspension, Nick Bishop also returns while Scott Johnson misses Huntingdon for personal reasons.
Following the departure of Callum Reed to Yaxley, Creasey said: “We don’t desperately need a winger as we’ve got Matt Lunn back. Something may happen in the next couple of weeks.”
