WISBECH St Mary Football Club have been given a grant of £11,000 by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), supporters of the Football Foundation.
This award will enable The Saints to upgrade their first team’s pitch to Step 7 standards, with full pitch barriers and hard standing.
Club secretary Martin Holmes said: “We are delighted to receive the grant in order for us to continue improving our fantastic grass roots football facilities.
“We are also thrilled to welcome Peterborough United FC Veteran Team, who will play Wisbech St Mary Veterans on Sunday, September 2 with a 2pm kick off, to officially open the improved facilities.
“Posh have confirmed that Ken Charlery, Dave Farrell, John Gregory, Tommy Robson and of course Jackie Gallagher will be amongst the squad.”
The FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds. Their chairman Peter McCormick added: “I am delighted that my colleagues and I have been able to award this grant to Wisbech St. Mary Football Club to enable them to make pitch upgrades.”
