Whaley linked with vacant Yaxley job

MARCH Town manager Brett Whaley has been linked with the vacant job at Yaxley following the sacking of Gary Clipston.

Whaley is a former player and coach at the United Counties League Premier Division club and his father Malcolm was chairman at one time.

Yaxley assistant manager Darren Edey, a former Wisbech player, has already ruled himself out and at the weekend Whaley was being tipped for the job.

But the ambitious Whaley said: “Yaxley is a very good club and I am always going to be linked with them because of my past and the fact that my assistant Chris Lenton’s father Geoff is the Yaxley president.

“I have asked the March board for some financial support to take the club further on next season and keep the squad together. I am awaiting their reply and at the present I have not applied for the Yaxley job.”

Applications for the Yaxley job close at the end of the week and it looks like Whaley’s future is in the March board’s hands.
