Wisbech Town FC boss Brett Whaley wants to tap into more young local talent as his squad continues to take shape.
Whaley yesterday completed the signings of Jack Brand and Scott Cubberley, from Wisbech St Mary, after former Fenmen Ollie Gale and Nick Davey returned to the club at the end of last week.
Midfielder Brand, 19, is highly-rated in local circles while Cubberley is back for his second spell with the Fenmen.
Recently-arrived at the Elgood’s Stadium, Whaley said: “If there’s young talent out on our doorstep then we should be tapping into it.
“We haven’t got the money to go out and bring in the really experienced players and we are building for the future.
“Jack is the type of player who wants to listen and learn.
“He understands that he has got to be patient, but I like what I saw of him at our first pre-season session on Saturday.
“I was also impressed with a handful of the reserve players and some of them look as though they have the ability to make the step up.”
On the arrivals of Gale and Davey, Whaley said: “Ollie gives me different options of where he can play.
“He has a great left foot, lots of pace and is capable of scoring goals from wide areas.
“Nick is a centre-forward who showed last season that when he is fit and playing that he is a real hand-full.
“They are excited about coming back to the club and it’s great to have them on board.”
Another midfielder and striker remain on top of Whaley’s wanted list.
