Wisbech Town boss Brett Whaley continued his rebuilding at the Elgoods Stadium last night by announcing two marquee signings.
Whaley confirmed the arrivals of midfielder Rob Hughes, from Yaxley, and defender Stuart Wall, from Histon, to take his batch of new playing arrivals to four in the space two days.
Both Hughes and Wall were part of the King’s Lynn Town squad which won promotion from the United Counties League in 2011/12 and will add much-needed experience to the Wisbech set-up.
Whaley also revealed that Paul Cousins will remain part of the management team and playing staff at the club.
Talking about the latest additions, Whaley said: “Both Rob and Stuart won promotion with King’s Lynn from the UCL and have plenty of experience at higher levels.
“Rob made a massive difference for me at Yaxley and was key in the improvements there.
“Stuart was captain of Histon last season and is a real leader. His character and determination will rub off on all the lads around him.”
After agreeing terms with the Fenmen, Hughes took to social media and Tweeted: “Delighted to have committed to @wisbechtownfc and former management @brettw123 and @ddfoxhunter. Great club with great fans.”
On Paul Cousins, Whaley said: “I’m really pleased that Paul Cousins has agreed to remain as part of my management team.
“It’s great to have someone with such knowledge and passion about the club, to help me.
“Paul will also remain as part of the playing squad for his 10th season at the club.”
Earlier this week, Whaley brought in coach Dan Dobson and players Luke Hipwell and Aaron Butcher from his former club Yaxley.
