Wisbech St Mary went close to pulling off an upset on their FA Vase debut at Station Road.

Underdogs Saints were deadlocked at 1-1 at the end of normal time against their Thurlow Nunn League visitors.

But two extra-time goals ended the Cambs League side’s dream.

The Hares made it three wins on the bounce with a deserved 3-1 win against Leiston Reserves.

Shane Cooke fired in a great goal on 11 minutes after a brilliant cross-field pass from Sean White.

Keeper David Beeny had to go off after 55 minutes with a serious knee injury and Gerard Evans put on the green shirt.

A handball on the line gave March a penalty on the hour which captain Max Mattless converted.

The visitors replied with 10 minutes left but three minutes later MoM Sean White, who had two assists, bagged the third with a dazzling run from the wing to finish with an angled drive.

March, who are sixth in Thurlow Nunn League Division One, travel to 11th-spot Debenham LC next Saturday.
