A goal in either half saw Wisbech Town FC lose to King’s Lynn Town 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Linnets goalkeeper Alex Street, the former Fenman, was involved in his first run out of the summer, while Wisbech’s Jack Friend, Michael Frew and Danny Beaumont all faced their former club at the Elgood’s Stadium.

Alex Clunan, brother of Michael, notched his first senior goal for the Linnets and Leon Mettam opened his account since returning to Lynn in the close season.

Wisbech Town have had their opening few United Counties League Premier Division fixtures of the season confirmed.

On Tuesday, August 9, the Fenmen will host Peterborough Sports, who they could end up meeting in both the FA Cup and FA Vase later in the season, at the Elgood’s Stadium. Dick Creasey’s troops will then travel to last season’s runners-up Leicester Nirvana on the Saturday. Home games against Deeping Rangers (August 16) and Rothwell Corinthians (Setember 5) will follow. Wisbech, who lost 3-0 at Pinchbeck United in midweek, host Ely on Friday.
