Wisbech Town FC should have striker Tom James back for his second spell with the club at home to Oadby Town on Saturday.

The second-spot Fenmen are chasing the Chromasports & Trophies United Counties League title after going on a 12-match winning run.

James, who left last season on a trip to Australia, has returned to the UK and is in line for a recall to the squad to face lowly 16th-place Oadby after his international clearance is due to go ahead tomorrow.

Wisbech Town manager Dick Creasey said: “The 30 days is up on Thursday. If the Australian FA don’t sign off, then the English FA automatically signs it off.

“I believe it will take its course and we’ll have Tom available for Saturday.

“We need options as we are picking up one or two niggling injuries.

“Josh (Ford) hopefully has had his hamstring clear up; likewise with Lunny (knee injury victim Matt Lunn) it is no good risking people.

“Matt is struggling, and we will look at him at the weekend.”

Creasey added of the pacy James: “Tom will give us a boost as he is a different type of forward, but it doesn’t mean he has automatically got a starting place. He will give us an injection.”

Full-back Scott Johnson returned for last night’s home game with Cogenhoe United after a holiday.

Next Tuesday (17), Wisbech Town have a derby at local rivals Peterborough Northern Star.
