March Town CC captain Chris Ringham was disappointed with the lack of application as his side crashed by 59 runs at Castor & Ailsworth in the Cambs Tucker Premier.
Past all-rounder Rob Woolley, who played for March in 2010 and 2011, came back to haunt them when he scored 32 and bagged 4-24 in the hosts’ moderate 123 total. However, March were toppled for 64.
Ringham said: “It was disappointing chasing 120 against the bottom club.
“They just applied themselves better than we did. When we batted it was a slightly better track.
“When we arrived there were three pitches marked that were equally wet. They won the toss and batted which was a massive surprise. Rob came back to haunt us and it took a good diving catch by Steve Seymour to get him out.”
Ringham will consult the Seconds and rejig the batting order for next Saturday’s home game when they entertain St Ives.
