March 2nd retained the Ernie Wool Trophy after defeating Wisbech 3rd by 7 wickets at Chatteris on Sunday, thanks to an inspired piece of bowling by young fast medium bowler Josh Jackman and the batting of their front three.

Crucial to their victory was the performance of Jackman, whose bowling spell of 8-2-12-4 pegged back Wisbech who had earlier scored 41-0 in their opening 7 overs, where James Sheppard 30 and Paul Strickle 20 had given them a solid base.

Jackman was supported by Jacob Gray and David Haslegrave who took two wickets each and some excellent fielding, which included two running catches by Toby Nulty.

In reply March started steadily with the openers skipper Stephen Wallis 58 (six 4’s) and Jake Beart 25 (five 4’s) adding 48 for the first wicket, before the reliable David Haslegrave 46 (five 4’s, one 6) helped the skipper add 82 for the second wicket, though it was left to Jackman and Nathan Foad to complete the win.
