Cambs Granta 83-10 lost to Leverington 84-3

After the previous week’s win against second placed Haddenham, Leverington managed to beat the rain and their other title contenders by 7 wickets, avenging their only defeat earlier in the season.

Winning the toss and bowling first, the hostile Solomon Prestidge dismissed batsmen 2,3 and 4 with the short ball and with a little more luck and better catching could have ended with a five-for instead of impressive figures of 10-2-22-3. A fantastic run out by Gautam Odedra removed Granta’s star opener and Peck picked up a wicket.

Experienced duo Cooper 5.2-0-7-3 and John Gill 2-8 helped clean up the lower order, dismissing Granta for 83. With black clouds looming openers Gilbert and Rhodes (16) took the attack on and got Leverington a quarter of the way there after four overs.

With the two openers disappearing so did the clouds as Andy Reid (17) and Odedra (36*), with some huge shots, saw Leverington finish the game in just over 18 overs.
