MARCH Town go into Saturday’s local derby with Wisbech Town at Harecroft Road as massive underdogs but these games hardly run true to form.
Both sides are in winning form but it is Wisbech who are scoring runs for fun, while the lads from The Avenue despite winning their last two games have not impressed with the bat.
With March skipper Chris Ringham out injured, it is good time for Wisbech to take on their rivals especially with nearly 600 runs in their last two Cambs Tucker League games but skipper James Williams is taking nothing for granted.
He said: “We have had surprise results in the past in these derby games and last year we won at the Avenue when they were enjoying a good season.
“The games seem to bring out the best in some players and it very much depends who comes off on the day.”
Ringham, who will be a very disappointed spectator, said: “We will now go there with some confidence after our last two results. We are bowling really well at the moment and we now have to do better with the bat.”
With that in mind, March may promote batsman David Hodson, who has been in very good form with the second team and hit 87 at the weekend.
