Stuart Mills took the final two wickets in two balls as March Town beat Barnack by one run on Sunday in a Rutland League Division One reduced overs match.

Barnack collapsed and lost their last six wickets for just eight runs as man of the match Mills (7.3-1-34-3) snared the final two wickets lbw and then bowled. Australian Stephen Shaw took 4-52.

March had posted 178-8 in 36 overs with Josh Fox striking 33 off 26 balls.

Former Tucker League winning skipper Jody Betts top-scored with 64 (seven boundaries) as March 2nd Xl opened their account with a comfortable 96-run friendly win over City of Ely at The Avenue on Saturday.

Toby Nulty hit 48, James Fountain an unbeaten 41 (including a six off his first ball) and Josh Fox a quickfire 29 as March reached 252-8 off 45 overs. Ely were dismissed for 156 in the 44th over.

The pacy Fox bagged 2-14, including a superb slip catch from skipper John Wallis, new Cambs/Hunts veteran Stuart Arnold 2-19, and leg-spinner Nathan Oliver 3-20.

The 2nds’ first CCA Senior League 1 game is on Saturday, May 3 at home to St Giles, start time 1.30pm.

l March Town CC start junior outdoor coaching this week. Boys and girls under 15 from 6.30pm on Thursday; U11 and U13 from 10am on Sunday. All equipment required provided by the club as well as the qualified coaches. New players always welcome.
