A record number of students and staff have competed in the annual five-kilometre run at Wisbech Grammar School.
A big field of 45 pupils and seven teachers lined up for the inter-house event and the members of the school’s four houses had to complete four laps around the school grounds.
The first boy to cross the line was head of school Sam-Henry Pressling, who completed the course in 22 minutes 5 seconds, and the winning girl was Mollie Allen (23 minutes 1 second), who is still only 14 years old.
In the vanguard for the veterans was head of houses and former chairman of Fenland Running Club Tim Chapman, who achieved a top time of 21 minutes 10 seconds, and the winning house was Clarkson.
Mr Chapman said: “The race attracted more pupils than ever this year and I was delighted to see this, as well as the huge crowd of supporters.”
More annual competitions for the school’s houses are set to follow, with a 5K relay followed by a Race for Life in June.
