MARCH teenager Adam Portwood (15) competed in the first round of six of the 2011 British Youth 500cc Speedway Championship.
Last year he competed in the 500cc U15’s British Championship and finished in overall third place.
This year he had a very strong start scoring 11 out of 12 points in the four qualifying heats, with three wins and a second place, to eventual winner Nathan Stoneman.
Over the bank holiday weekend Adam will compete in three meetings organised by Phil Morris of the Young Lions management team. Adam also competes with the Southern Track Riders Amateur Speedway Club (ASC), The Dragons ASC, and will be representing Scunthorpe in the Amateur Midlands League, as well as having regular rides at Ipswich, King’s Lynn and Mildenhall after their meetings.
The next round is at Buxton on Sunday, June 12.
