Ipswich & East Suffolk 1st 2,

March Town 1st 4

MARCH kept the promotion juggernaut rolling on with another win in EML Division 2N.

The deadlock was broken by Ipswich when derogatory remarks from March keeper Matt Lynn towards the umpire rewarded them with a short corner that they duly slotted.

Terms were levelled shortly after with Ed Batt rifling a drag flick past a flailing Ipswich keeper. A raging bull-like run into the D from Jody Betts saw his pass find Mark Patrick, who outfoxed the keeper with some slippery stick work and a flick was awarded. Patrick stepped up and dispatched with aplomb.

Ipswich then equalised from their second short corner of the game after Jordan Hilliard was too rough in the tackle. Good play from Matt Wallis rewarded March with another short corner and Batt grabbed his second of the game with a low accurate shot into the bottom corner.

The ever present Ashley Welland completed the scoring with quick reactions in the D to drill home.

Man of the match was Ed Batt for two goals from centre back.

This Saturday March entertain Spalding (2.30).

Newmarket 1st 13,

March Town 3rds 1

MARCH travelled to the table toppers without two of their more influential players and were given a lesson in goalscoring.

They conceded seven goals in the first half and could not get their game going.

The second half saw a glimmer of what March, who up to this point had won eight of their last 10 EML Division 5NW games, could do.

Newmarket scored four more before Simon Laws converted and then added two more before the final whistle.
