The four weeks of Fenland Running Club’s beginners group held during June, and masterminded by Roger Williams, proved to be a roaring success thanks to help from Jane Greenwood and all the club runners who gave up their club-night training evenings to help.

On week three they were visited by Julie Pashley of Run England who praised it: “As the activator for Run England, the recreational running project for England Athletics, I see many beginner groups but I have never seen a group quite like this one.

“This group was set up to get those that haven’t run before, or for a very long time to get back to running, and has proved to be a complete success. Well done Fenland Running Club.”

On Saturday, Roger Williams took Shaun Freer from the group to introduce him to the 5K Parkrun at King’s Lynn which Shaun completed in a respectable time of 25.33 and Jane Greenwood and Ian Milburn led a few out for a countryside run on Sunday.

The group will be continued on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm at the Rugby Club and will run for a further six weeks until August 6.
