Long Sutton Men’s 1st 1, Harleston Mag’s Men’s 2nds 4

Sutton tried to get used to the bouncy water based pitch while Harleston controlled the play and eventually opened the scoring.

Harleston Magpies doubled their lead but lost their keeper for deliberately stopping the ball outside the D. Sutton got a goal back through Ellis.

Sutton again were not clinical enough in front of an open goal.

At full strength again Harleston scored and as Sutton then went down to 10 themselves Harleston capitalised and added a fourth. Man of the match: Featherstone.

Long Sutton Men’s 2nds 4,

St. Ives Men’s 3rds 2

A strong St Ives team opened the scoring in the first half of this well fought game. Sutton were rewarded with the first of three penalty flicks converted by MoM, Ben Shore.

Shore scored again at the start of the second half and this was followed by Ben Smith converting a second flick. St Ives fought back and won a flick which they converted to make the score 3-2.

However Smith got his second goal and Sutton had a third flick strike the crossbar in a strong all round team performance.

Long Sutton Men’s 3rds 1, Grantham Men’s 1st 0

A Josh Fyson drag flick from a short corner decided a well fought encounter versus top of the table Grantham.

Good work in midfield, particularly by Ed White on the right, helped achieve sustained periods of possession. Sutton thought they had taken the lead through Alex Canham, only for play to be taken back for an infringement earlier in the move.

Excellent work by Albert Slator in goal and Scott Ingram and Jamie Slator in defence.

Horncastle Men’s 2nds 5,

Long Sutton Men’s 4ths 1

Horncastle opened the scoring from some quick hockey.

A spirited Sutton earned a short corner which was dragged out by Calvin Bishop to captain Matt King at the top of the D, who slipped the ball to debut player Oliver Gayford who then levelled. Ed Munson, Nick Worth and Sam Gray defended well. Ray Warrick made an amazing stop on the line.

Long Sutton Ladies 1st 2, City of Peterborough Ladies 2nds 0

Sutton were the stronger team and took the lead halfway through the first half, with Rebecca Kierman slotting the ball home on the far post from a rebound.

Sutton had many more attacks during the first half, but none of them turned into scoring chances. In the second half Bryony Normanton flicked the ball from the top of the ‘D’ into the net. PoM: Melissa Ludlam.

Alford Ladies 2nds 0, Long Sutton Ladies 2nds 6

Long Sutton relentlessly pressurised Alford, playing most of the game in the home side’s half.

Lisa Baker scored four including a great reverse goal into the top of the net. Two goals from striker Katie Ireland. Louise Billingham and Jayme Hunt had good games. Captain Sam Carr in goal saved well. Joint PoM: Baker and Hannah Greenacre.
