Strong winds forced cancellation on Tuesday in the Wisbech Wheelers evening TT cycling series but things calmed down by the weekend and on Sunday in the Wheelers Open ‘25’ local fast man Daniel Bloy, riding for Team Velovelocity, flew round the course in an impressive 52.33 to take victory.
Neil Palmer of Spalding CC beat many riders with higher seeding to take second in 53.55 and third was Andy Whale of Ashford CC, also outpacing seeded riders with 54.45.
Fastest lady was Louise Day of Team Swift in 1.04.26. Vet, John Talbot, was the best of the Wheelers in his first ever 25-miler with 1.00.07. In the King’s Lynn Open ‘10’ the previous Saturday vet Stuart Emmett was the fastest Wisbech rider on 24.20 with 70+ vet, John Brown making a welcome return to racing after injury and putting in a 26.13.
Lady vet, Denese Hallahan, recorded 30.47 but went on to record 27.21 on Monday in the VTTA open event event in Buckinghamshire.
She was unable to repeat the pace on the following Saturday in The Lea Valley Promotion in Essex where high winds turned a fast course into a headwind slog and 31.00 was the best she could manage.
