Wisbech under 10’s were extremely disappointed not to progress in this year’s Cambs Cup. They were drawn in a particularly difficult group but beat St Ives 35-0 with tries coming from Henry Mair, Geoffrey Kirby, George Paul, Finley Murdoch, Lewis Theobald and Jack Tremain.
In their second game they beat Ely 10-0 both tries scored by Lewis Theobald. They then lost out to eventual winners Cambridge 10-0.
Wisbech under 9s reached the semi-finals of the Cambridgeshire County Cup. In their opening match tries from Ben Wilcox (3), Ewan Samways and Sam Howat secured a convincing 25-0 win against St Ives.
The same scoreline saw off the challenge of Ely with tries from Wilcox (2), Samways (2) and Howat, and set-up a pool decider with hosts Cambridge.
A tense match finished 10-10 with Wilcox and Samways scoring again, Wisbech topped the group having scored the most tries.
In the semi-final the team defended brilliantly against a strong Newmarket side before eventually losing out to the only try of the match.
Wisbech under 8’s played a trio of games against Wendens, Ely & St. Neots at the Cambs Cup.
It was the first fixture of the season, and the boys played very well given the extreme weather conditions. Tries were scored by Oliver Murdoch, Billy Nurse and Joshua Bell.
