Dozens of competitors competed at the sports centre in Downham Market at the weekend, with a strong contingent from Carters School of Taekwon-do from the Hudson Leisure Centre in Wisbech.

Hagai Prince (6) and his brother Duir (8) who train with their father Stuart at the Hudson on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The family has been trained exclusively by Mr Anthony Carter, 6th Dan Black Belt, and they are shaping up to be excellent martial artists. Mr Carter said that he believes the boys have worked extremely hard for this competition and deserved to succeed.

Hagai won two silver medals for his patterns and for his sparring. Duir narrowly missed matching that achievement and was proud to bring home the silver for his sparring.

Stuart was as proud as punch. He trains with them at the Hudson, and is delighted that the boys take so much pride in their sport.

“This is where Taekwon-do has the edge on many other sports”, he said. “Youngsters can compete at any age and at any level, and the sport teaches them confidence, discipline and sportsmanship at a very individual and personal level.”
