Cambs lose plate final thriller

Cambridgeshire’s short mat bowls team lost out in a thrilling Plate final against Cornwall by 22-18.

Having played six round robin matches over the winter period starting last September against other local counties with little success, Cambs’ luck changed when they received a bye into the Plate quarter final where they beat Dorset by 23-17. They beat Northants 22-218 in the semi-finals to set up a final against Cornwall.

The two teams were level after eight games. It went down to the last match of the four for Cornwall to seal victory on the last end winning 22-18 overall.
