Carl in season’s best

The rain kept off for a change on Tuesday evening but a rising headwind on the home leg meant slower times for most riders.

One exception was Wisbech Wheelers vet Carl Murley, who cranked his fixed wheel machine relentlessly all the way round to record a season’s best of 24.07.

A slightly below par Paul Ashby on 22.56 was once again beaten into second place by Richard Eve with 22.30 and Mike MacInerney took third in 22.59. David Jakeman was taken out of the running by mechanical problems.

On Saturday two Wisbech vets took to the road in the Team Cambridge Open ‘10’ and both were rewarded with a season’s best. Denese Hallahan recorded 27.35 and Adrian Whiting was round in 23.12.
