Wisbech Ladies 2nds v Horncastle Ladies 1st Hockey Action

Wisbech started the game as champions and due to their superior goal difference Horncastle tried every tactic to stop the normal goal spree.

Wisbech were however 2-0 up at half-time through Lou Sandall, and Fran Plitsch after Laura Overland dribbled into the D.

For the first time this season Wisbech were unable to improve further on the score line due to Horncastle’s physical efforts.

Wisbech were unlucky not to get a flick in the second half after a shot by Overland hit a foot on the goal line but continued to make many chances through the midfield of Overland, Sandall, Emma Barnard and Emily Woods.

PoM: Louise Sandall and Emma Barnard.

Wisbech 3rd 3,

Cambridge City 4th 4

Wisbech in East Hockey Mens Division 3NW let two quick goals in from some sloppy teamwork.

A swift reorganization of the defence held City and Wisbech managed a well worked goal from James Williams which left the score at 1-3 at half-time.

The second half saw Wisbech use their wide players more and this created goals for Tim Atkins and Williams. A breakaway goal for City kept their noses in front.

Next game: March 1 v St Neots (h) 11.30am.

City of Peterborough 8s 5, Wisbech 4s 2

Peterborough went 3-0 up before Wisbech pulled it back with good goals from Pete Shippey and Paul Jackson.

Wisbech are now sixth in Division 5NW, well safe from relegation with only two more games to play.
