On Sunday Chatteris St Peter’s Tennis Club welcomed over 40 members, relatives of junior members and people from March and Chatteris invited to join the club as new members at the courts in St Peter’s Drive, off New Road, Chatteris.
It is anticipated four new members will be joining the club as a result of this event, two having signed up on the day.
In 2015, membership of this friendly and welcoming club will be the highest recorded in its history, which now extends over 100 years.
The club has two of the few remaining grass courts in the county. In addition, its fast draining hard courts enable it to offer tennis all year round.
In additional to club nights, social tennis, junior coaching and six teams participating in league tennis in the summer months, the club holds club afternoons on Sundays and social tennis on Thursday afternoons throughout the autumn, winter and early spring.
Junior coaching commences again in September. This year the club will be entering two teams for winter league matchplay tennis.
The outcome of a bid for funding for floodlights is anticipated very shortly. If successful, in the coming weeks provision at the club will be enhanced by the introduction of winter club nights.
