Chatteris swimmers improve on last year’s finish

The junior squad of the Chatteris Kingfishers Swimming Club swam in the B final of the Junior Fenland League, with the club hosting the event.

They did very well, finishing in third place on the night, which put them in eighth place in the overall table of the league out of 15.

This is an improvement of three positions higher than last year, when they won the C-final.

The final result was Ely Barracudas 159 points, Mildenhall Sharks 131, Chatteris Kingfishers 125, Huntingdon Piranhas 123 and Thetford Dolphins 105.

Chatteris achieved nine first places, six second places, ten third places and another 16 personal best times, with several swimmers beating the cut-off time for their race.

Swimming to top position were Molly Noble in 11/U 50m front crawl and 50m breaststroke (both pb), Chloe Cook in 11/U 50m butterfly, Freddie Allen (10) in 12/U 50m front crawl (pb), Riley Astley in 12/U 50m backstroke, Megan Dawson in 13/U 50m butterfly (pb), Anastassja Herdien in 11/U 50m backstroke, Thomas Hanley in 12/U 50m breaststroke (pb) and Kiara Kovacs (11) in 13/U 50m front crawl (pb).

Second places were secured by Freddie Allen (10) and Kiara Kovacs in 12/U 100m I.M (both pb and BCO), Maisie Harper in 12/U 50m front crawl, Hallie White (11) in 12/U and 13/U 50m breaststroke and Thea Hanley in 9yrs 25m butterfly (pb).

Solid third places were swum by Chloe Cook (10) in 13/U 50m backstroke and 100m I.M. (both pb), Ben Noble in 9yrs 25m butterfly and 50m breaststroke, Thomas Hanley in 13/u 50m breaststroke (pb), Kiara Kovacs in 12/U 50m backstroke, Olivia Clark in 10/U 50m front crawl (pb), Thomas Ashton in 9yrs 50m backstroke, Anastassja Herdien in 10/U 50m butterfly and Freddie Allen (10) in 12/u 50m butterfly.

Further personal best times were swam by Thea Hanley in the 9yrs 50m back and breaststroke.

The other swimmers were Harry Rayner, who swam four races, Hayden Wareing and Melissa Ablett.
