Club runners end year with 10k best times

THE final race of 2010 saw 19 Fenland Running Club members competing in the ever popular New Year’s Eve 10K Road Race hosted by Ely Runners at Little Downham.

Good conditions on the day saw 506 runners complete the course with the traditional piper at the start.

First man home for Fenland was Justin Kinsey in 23rd place with a personal best time of 37.31 and first lady home was Rebecca Cousins, who was pleased with a time of 41.30 having just recovered from the dreaded flu virus.

Other pbs were achieved by Dan Wate (42.41) and Simon Holmes (59.14) who knocked an impressive six minutes off his previous time at the same race last year.

Eight members plus one dog from March Athletics Club took part in the Ely race.

In his first race for the club, Fen the rescue collie now owned by members Malcolm and Katie Hunt came an impressive fourth dog home.

Meanwhile runners for the club were greeted by Darren Moat first home in a time of 41.19 72nd overall, First lady home was Karen Patterson with a time of 45.37 in 176th overall.

Geraldine Emmins knocked two minutes off her personal best to cross the finish line in 45.57.
