Club’s 30th birthday

MARCH and District Squash Club celebrates the 30th anniversary of the club’s opening on Saturday.

With enthusiastic players of all standards from international to novice and with racketball the fastest growing sport in the country, many members are playing racketball along with squash.

The club was actually founded earlier in order to plan and build two courts, later extended to three with the building of a show court.

The club is situated at the cricket club in Burrowmoor Road and handily placed for the clubhouse to which all members have access.

On Saturday the club will be holding a squash competition for members of all ages and standards starting early afternoon. All visitors are welcome including past and founder members, with a small charge for those joining for refreshments afterwards.

Chairman Tony Tarrant said: “The club’s enduring success has been partly due to the enthusiasm and hard work of the founders and members, together with good facilities, very reasonable fees and a warm and friendly welcome.”
