Wisbech Rugby Club youth teams travelled to Boston Rugby Club on Sunday and put in some excellent performances.
The Under 11 coaches believe their side played their best-ever all round team performance.
Fly half James Shelly made a darting run to put Wisbech 5-0 ahead to reward their pressure in the first game. Lock Cameron Finlay and hooker Oliver Simpson added tries as Wisbech won 15-5.
Wisbech then lost to Boston 15-10 (Finlay 2). Player of the week was Ethan Guthrie, who in his new role at scrum half, put in a faultless performance.
Wisbech U8’s were on top form in two games against Boston U8’s. Wisbech won 4-1, tries scored by Sam Curwen, Joshua Bell, William Paul and Billy Nurse.
Their second game saw some great tagging and passing, this ended with a draw of 4-4, tries scored by Jonathan Harding (2), Oliver Mann and Rhys Swann.
Wisbech U7’s played a friendly against the Boston combined U7/8 side. Despite narrowly losing, all of the squad played well and the score of 4 tries to 2 did not reflect the amount of effort. A follow-on game against Wisbech U8’s also demonstrated superb teamwork.
Special mentions go to scorers Connor Loughlin, Thomas Mann, Michal Glowacka and Aaron Goodman; and Ty Cooke, Charley Kirby, Bradley Shippey, and Finlay Ingram for an excellent effort.
