Deflection denies Long Sutton

City of Peterborough 3rds 3, Long Sutton 3

Sutton started the brighter on Saturday playing some lovely flowing hockey and creating some good chances.

It was no surprise when Sisson opened the scoring. A second followed from a short corner in the style of a sweetly struck thunder bolt from Fyson. Hales made it three before half-time and Sutton looked comfortable. Peterborough came back and their equaliser was accidentally kicked into the goal off a Sutton defender.

March Town 3rd 2,

Long Sutton 2nd XI 12

Long Sutton 2nds finished the first half of the season showing no goodwill to their fellow men with a demolition of the league’s bottom club.

Nick Bailey scored seven goals. Sutton went into half-time 5-0 up with Bailey claiming four and Stefan Fox the other. The second half continued in the same vein with Jeremy Watt (2) and Luke Lovegrove getting on the score sheet and March scoring a remarkable own goal.

Captain Matt Holmes commented: “The team needs to remain focused to achieve our goal of promotion.”
