Ely Ladies 4,

March Town Ladies 0

This was March’s first league fixture of the season since being promoted and the nerves were showing from the junior players.

March were reduced to 10 players due to a changing room injury and this handed Ely the control of the midfield, and they took advantage.

But due to the hard work put in by the defense, namely Kath Fryett, Flick Allen and player of the day Lisa Marston, who has just returned to hockey and played as left back for the first time in her hockey career, it took over 10 minutes for Ely to make their mark. Goalkeeper Freya Coleman made some excellent saves and managed to keep the score down to 2-0 at half-time.

In the second half all the March players appeared to have a second lease of life but Ely scored two more quick goals, Everybody gave everything on the day.
